COMPLAINING ANGERS GOD
And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord, and the Lord heard it, and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
Do you know anyone who is always complaining? As soon as you enter a conversation with them they begin to tell you how difficult life is for them. They never say anything good about anyone else, and they are never satisfied when people are doing things for them.
In the passage above, the Israelites have been traveling from Mt. Sinai under the leadership of Moses. Even though the Lord had delivered them from Egyptian bondage and brought them through the wilderness to that point, they began to complain to Moses. The Lord heard their complaints and decided to consume many of the rebels with fire.
I know that living in today's society is not always easy. Many of us face a myriad of problems. But we must keep in mind that with God, all things are working out for our good if we love the Lord and are (the) called according to His purpose.
God knows what we want and what we need. But He gets angry when we complain in the face of His many blessings to us. We should thank God and stop complaining. He's been too good!
