As we approach Black History Month it is important not only to remember and honor those who came before us, but that we also pursue excellence in order to leave a legacy for those who come behind us.  We must live our lives in a way that our children, and children's children will add our names to the list of Black Americans who opened more doors and made more in-roads for the cause of justice and equality for all people.

May we continue to pray for one another in 2015.

                A MADE UP MIND!

But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the kings choice food or with the wine which he drank...  (Daniel 1:8)

Do you know anyone who has a difficult time making decisions?  One day they are going to do this.....and the next day they changed their minds and decided to do something else.  Then there are people who decide to change their lives for the better and tell everyone what they are going to do.  The problem is, they don't do what they say they will do.

At some point in our lives we need to make up our minds that we are going to live the way God wants us to, no matter what.  We should make a Spiritual commitment that will make us better people.  We should stop doing those things that we should not do, and commit ourselves to doing what we should do.  We must stop waffling back and forth and take a committed stand.

Daniel made up in his mind that he would not defile himself with food and drink that he realized God would not approve of.  He understood that he was in Babylonian captivity, and that King Nebuchadnezzar could have him killed. But Daniel had a made up mind and he followed through on his convictions.

Let us all think about those things that would make us better and decide once and for all to change our lives for the better.  No more actions of sin; no more actions of bitterness toward our brothers or sisters.  Decide to go to church as often as you are able.  In other words, make up your mind, and then do it.  God will be pleased and you will be a better person as a result.
