Let me first say that although Gladys is still in ICU, we both have the peace that is beyond understanding.  She is conscious and we are together every day.  Thank all of you for your prayers, calls, cards, and well wishes.  I will be back this Sunday to present the State Of The Church Address and honor our Senior members at the 11am service.  Continue to keep us in prayer.  And of course, also remember to keep "all" of our members in prayer!

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING!

Why has the way of the wicked prospered?  Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?......If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out, then how can you compete with horses?  (Jeremiah 12:1b,  5a)

Worldly people seem to have an easier time in Life than Christians.  In this passage, Jeremiah is complaining to God because it just seems that the wicked are prospering while God's people are having all kinds of problems.  Jeremiah asked God why God is allowing this to happen.  During difficult times some people complain a lot and some people act as though all is well.  God's people should realize that life can be difficult, but know that something positive can come out of it.

Complaining about hard times will not change anything.  God was not sympathetic to Jeremiah's complaining.  In His answer to Jeremiah, He pointed out that the experiences that Jeremiah had was just a preview of what was to come.  If Jeremiah had been worn out running with men on foot, how was he going to match up when it was time to race the horses. God was essentially saying that things were going to get worse before they got better.

Christians accept the fact that life is hard sometimes, but also accept the challenge and stand strong because we know that God is with us.  God is not moved by complaining.  Life is tough, but we are also tough.  We have God on our side.  WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING!
