WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults , with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. (2Corinthians 12:10)
At times the Apostle Paul challenges us to act in ways that do not seem normal. For example, in the passage above, how can we be content with weaknesses, insults, distresses, persecutions, and difficulties. Most of us want to change circumstances such as those as soon as we can. And to be honest, it does not seem easier to accept those things even for Christ's sake. But I am learning that God wants us to depend on his strength and not on our own when difficulties come.
As a boy, my father wanted me to grow tough as I got older. He wanted me to know that life is not easy and I had to be strong for life's problems. However, I have learned that no matter how strong I try to be, my strength cannot compare to God's strength. So when we allow God's strength to be revealed in our lives, we will have no trouble holding on during the perilous times.
I now find myself saying, "well Lord, I need your strength to have its way today." And knowing that the power of Christ resides in me, I can feel confident that all is well. In essence, "WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG!"
