FWMBC Members and Friends,
The Month of May will be very busy for us. Announcements in our bulletins coupled with my updates that I send out to you should be helpful.  If you are aware of new members who have not turned in their email addresses, please let them know that many of my correspondences are sent that may contain information that will be helpful to them.  I use a separate list than this one for daily announcements.

Remember, our Sick and Shut-In Members appreciate your prayers.

                  OPEN YOUR EYES!
Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn.  So he bowed low and fell face down.  Numbers 22:31

Have you ever had someone advise you that you were going in the wrong direction and you refused to listen to them?  Perhaps it was Mama telling you not to marry that particular man and you did it anyway.  It turned out to be the worst mistake of your life.  Perhaps you were hanging with the wrong crowd as a teenager and got in trouble because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  In other words, you were spiritually blind.

The Bible speaks of a man named Balaam who was sought by many because he was thought to have the power to put curses and/or blessing on people, and nations.  As a prophet he was urged by the king of Moab to curse the invading Israelites for a fee.  Balaam was tempted to yield to the temptation of riches.  On the way, an angel of the Lord stood in the pathway of Balaam.  Only the donkey was able to see the angel.  The donkey responded by moving out of the way.  Balaam became angry with the donkey and began to beat him.  The same situation happened two more times.  Eventually, the Lord opened Balaam's eyes and he saw the angel and the problems that could have happened if the donkey had not taken appropriate action.

When we ignore the wisdom of others who are competent to give us advice, we sometimes make inappropriate decisions that can be costly.  At least, we should be careful before we make important decisions.  We should "open our eyes" before we act.  It may save us many heart aches.
