A FULFILLED PROPHESY
...Behold your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (Zechariah 9:9b)
They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it. (Mark 11:7)
Many of us approach "Resurrection Sunday" (Easter) with much excitement and anticipation. After all, it is the representation of our unshakeable belief that Jesus was raised from death to life. Because He rose, we also as Christians can look forward to eternal life with the Lord. As believers we have so many markers to help us verify that the Christian message is accurate. One area that helps us stand on our beliefs is the fact that there were prophesies by Old Testament Prophets that were fulfilled in New Testament accounts.
One such prophesy was made by Zechariah (9:9) where it was declared that the Messiah would be mounted on a donkey as He rode into Jerusalem. We learn from other accounts that the colt would be "previously unridden" and the disciples would put their outer cloaks on the colt as a makeshift saddle. The people were excited then, as we should be today because the King was coming.
My belief in the risen Christ is unshakeable. I know that all of the events happened just as they were reported in Scripture. I eagerly celebrate the Resurrection of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because He rose, I will also rise one day as well to be with the Lord. I hope that you will join me by attending a Gospel Teaching Church this Easter. Come ready to praise God for His fulfillment of the prophesies that lead to our eternal Salvation.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
