FWMBC Members and Friends,

I asked my wife what she wanted for Valentine's Day.  Perhaps you may think that I am supposed to surprise her with a diamond necklace or something like that.  However, since this is our 40th year of marriage, I can assure you that I have been there, and done that on Valentine's Day.  She was quick to answer, I want a box of chocolates.  How about that.  A simple request and a sincere heart.  After all, it is our love which takes priority on this special day....  As you ponder what you will give your Valentine this year, remember, it is really all about love.  Love is the greatest gift of all.

AND THEY SHALL BE ONE FLESH

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  (Genesis 2:24)

One question that I have always had is: how does a husband and wife become one flesh?  After all we are very different.  I suggested certain things to do to a group of men and got some mixed reactions.

Here are some of those suggestions:  1.Encourage your wife to share her problems with you..listen attentively without watching TV.

2.  Give her unexpected gifts...not just on special occasions.

3.  Tell her at least once a day that you love her.

4.  Don't stop taking her out.

5.  Do not flirt with other women.

6.  Help out around the house.

7.  Compliment your wife regularly on her looks; food preparation, etc.

8.  Learn and consider her needs.

9. Keep God first in all that you do.

But I also suggested some things to a group of women and their reactions were pretty mixed also.

1.Do not constantly complain and find fault.

2. Don't try to always have the last word.

3. Do not flirt with other men.

4.  Encourage your husband to talk things through.

5.  Continue to be romantic with your husband.

6.  Compliment him when he does something admirable.

7. Allow him time to watch the game sometimes.

8.  Learn and consider his needs.

9.  Keep God first in all that you do.

Well there were other suggestions that I am not including, and I am not including their reactions, but for now, Happy Valentines Day, and to God Be The Glory!
