The month of February is known for Black history as well as Valentines Day.  There are many youth in our community who are not aware of our history.  It is incumbent on us to share with them what we know.......  On the other note, this is a month that we should focus on family.  God loves us and we should love each other as we love God.  Do something special for one another on Valentines Day.

Also remember, prayer is always in  order.

LET US MARCH ON TIL   VICTORY IS WON!

Then Joshua rose early in the morning, and they set out from Acacia Grove and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over.  (Joshua 3:1)

James Weldon Johnson was an author, politician, Lawyer, poet, songwriter, and Professor.  It is said that he wrote "Lift Every Voice And Sing" as a result of the pride that he felt for our people.  It became know as the Negro National Anthem.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Minister, Civil Rights pioneer, and Pastor.  One of his letters written March 25, 1965 stated "The Battle is in Our Hands."  The letter is known for the phrase, "How long, not long."

President Barack Obama is a President, past Senator, Lawyer, and Community Organizer.  He wrote several books, including the "Audacity of Hope."

As we consider all of the men and women who made tremendous sacrifices for the cause of freedom we must never forget their contributions.  Congresswoman Barbara Jordan; Writer Maya Angelou; Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee; and many others are mentors for our children.

But just as Joshua prepared the children of Israel to cross the Jordan River, it is our job to prepare those who are coming behind us to carry the torch for freedom even further.  In other words, Let us march on til victory is won.

May God continue to Bless You, and Keep You is my prayer.
