Thank all of you who prayed that the government shut-down would end.  Prayer works.  Let us hope that we never get that close again. Let us also pray for those who lost wages during that time.

Remember also to keep in prayer our sick and shut-in members.

      OVERCOMING WORRY
"Then He said to His disciples, Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.  Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing."  (Luke 12:22)

How many of you are worried about something today?  Doesn't it seem that problems keep coming no matter what you do?  Is it really possible to live in today's society without worrying?

Well, if we consider the words of Jesus in Luke 12:22-32 we will be able to accomplish just that.  In verse 31 Jesus tells the disciples to "seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you."  Those things that cause our minds to be anxious are within God's ability to give us.  He already knows what we need before we do.  Accordingly, seeking God first involves Him in your situation and reveals your dependence on Him to work it out.  Verse 32 states: "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."  In essence, God gladly helps us when we are in need and seek His kingdom.   Will things always work out the way we desire?  We all know that they will not!  But when we trust God's Word so much that we can avoid worrying in spite of apparent problems, we know that the kingdom is ours.

Here are some practical tips to consider when you find yourself worrying:

 1. Anticipate God's help in working out your problem.

 2.  Renew your mind daily through God's Word.

 3.  Commit to doing things the way Christ would.

 4.  Always have a positive attitude.

 5.  In everything give thanks.

 6. Keep striving to solve your problem while God works it out.

 7. Visualize the change in your situation even before God works it out.

 8. Have a wholesome image of yourself.

 9.  Forgive those who trespass against you and move on.

 10.  Know that God loves you and will never forsake you.

Although we have limits, God does not.  There is nothing too hard for God.  So let's stop worrying, and just wait for God to help us work out whatever it is we are worrying about.  TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
