OUR LIVES ARE NOT OUR OWN!
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
(Jeremiah 1:4,5)
POINTS:
1. GOD OWNS US AND HAS A PLAN FOR US.
In the Law, we often say that at least 2 components have to be present to have testamentary capacity of ownership. First, a person must know what they have, and secondly, they must know what they want to do with it. God certainly knows each one of us since He created us and He redeemed us through the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ.
2. TRUST GOD TO GIVE US WHAT WE NEED T0 CARRY OUT HIS PLAN.
Jeremiah complained that he did not know how to speak well enough and that he was too young to serve God. God had an answer for both of his excuses. If we are in God's plan of providence, God will give us what we need to do what He wants us to do. He takes care of His own.
Even though God has a plan for our lives, He does not take the element of "choice" out of the equation. We are not robots, and God does not make us walk through all of the doors that He opens for us. He will guide us however toward the end which He has chosen for us. After all, He owns us, and He takes care of his own.
