SOMEBODY PRAYED FOR ME
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:59,60)
I am so blessed to have had praying grandmothers and a praying mother. Even before I understood the importance of prayer, they were keeping me covered with prayer. I have learned over the years that prayer works. My grandmothers are gone to be with the Lord now, but I am still praying as they taught me to do.
In Acts 6:5 Stephen is chosen to assist the apostles in the work of the Lord. Stephen was a man of great faith and was richly blessed by God. But some Jewish people were against him. They would argue with him about Jesus Christ. They grabbed him and brought him to a meeting to answer allegations that had been made against him. Stephen let them know that they had killed Jesus and disobeyed God's law. This infuriated the Jewish leaders and they immediately took him out and had him stoned.
Before Stephen died, Stephen prayed and asked the Lord not to hold this sin against them. Saul (who later became known as Paul) was present. He later became a great Evangelist in the spreading of the Gospel. It was mostly likely Stephen's prayer for Paul that started his conversion process.
I am so glad that I had persons who prayed for me as a child. I know it was their prayers which kept me in the arms of our Lord. I now pray for others, because, SOMEBODY PRAYED FOR ME!
