Although I have another week on my vacation, I choose to cut it short so that I can participate with you this Sunday for our Seniors Annual Day.  Pastor Robert Thomas and the Olivet MBC will be our guest at the 11AM service.  In addition, I will be available for Bible Study this Wednesday (Sept. 11, 2013).  I look forward to seeing you all!

 

 

Weekly Message 
 
        PRESSING ON IN THE TRUTH
  
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. (John 17:17)
  
Did you know that you are a "gift" to Jesus Christ?  In the High Priestly prayer Jesus mentions those who the Father has given Him (John 17:2,6).  What an honor it is to be a gift to Jesus Christ.  The question becomes, what kind of gift are we?  Should the Lord be pleased with us as a gift to Him?  He prayed for the Disciples and He is also praying for us. 
  
1.  We are sanctified for a special work of the Lord.  We have been given to Christ to carry on the work of Evangelism.  Our lives are no longer our own.  We belong to Christ.  We have a high calling.  We should take our positions in Christ seriously and do our work.
  
2.  The "TRUTH" means God's living Word and God's written Word.  In essence, we believe in the Living Word (Jesus Christ) and the Written Word (the Bible) as the means to bring lost men and women to Salvation.  There is no other way to be saved than through Jesus Christ.  That is the "TRUTH." 
  
3.  Jesus prayed that we would press on in the Truth.  Jesus knew that carrying out the assignment that He was leaving would not be easy.  But we should trust in the Lord to help us make it through.  Our job is to press on in the truth.  God will bless us for it.
