LOVE THAT IS REAL!
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9)
Do you have real love for God and for one another? Or are you just faking it? In the passage above, Paul explains that as believers, we must go through a transformation by renewing our minds if our lives will be pleasing to God. Paul further states that our love must be without dissimulation. He is alluding to the fact that just because we say that we love God, and our brethren, does not always make it so. Some members in Paul's day were playing church. Hopefully, that is not the case for us today.
1. REAL LOVE REQUIRES A RENEWING OF THE MIND. Some people are pretending to be who they are not. They are just acting. We must have the mind of Christ if we are truly going to love unconditionally. Remember, the mind can be the battlefield between good and evil. Let us transform our mind so that we are always thinking in a Godly manner.
2. REAL LOVE AVOIDS EVIL AND HOLDS TO GOOD. Worldly people are selfish. Postmodernism reflects an attitude of, "if it feels good, do it, no matter who you hurt in the meantime." That is not conducive to having real love. Real love makes us want to do the right thing in every situation.
3. REAL LOVE CAUSES US TO BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER. When believers are coming together in real love, there is a spirit of unity far deeper than any superficial acts of playing a role. Believers that love one another are closer than members of any other group. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is to seek the good of the other person even if it means sacrifices on our part.
SO I ASK YOU AGAIN, "DO YOU HAVE REAL LOVE FOR GOD AND FOR ONE ANOTHER?"
