GODLY MOTHERS AS VIRTUOUS WOMEN

Who can find a virtuous woman?  For her price is far above rubies.  (Proverbs 31:10)

Proverbs 31 depicts a woman with strong character, great wisdom, and many skills.  She is a compassionate woman that wears many hats.  She is a business woman, a homemaker, a wife, and a mother.  Her attractiveness comes from her excellent character.  Her physical looks are not even mentioned.

As we approach Mother's Day, I know that many of our mothers have the same attributes as the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31.  Certainly in this day and age, many women not only take care of the home, the children, etc., but they work outside the home as well.  How they manage the time is bewildering.  But they do!  And most of them do it well.  Those things considered, it could be said that we have some extra-ordinary mothers.  But there is something else.  In verse 30, the writer says:  "Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who FEARS THE LORD, she shall be praised."

A Godly mother is a virtuous woman because she "fears the Lord."  Her children call her blessed.  That statement infers that she has taught them what it means to be blessed.  Her husband praises her.  I believe that her reverence is noted by her family and all who know her.

This Mother's Day, let us all acknowledge Godly Mothers.  For truly, they are virtuous women.
