BEHOLD A WOMAN
And, behold a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. (Matthew 15: 22)
A Godly mother's love is indeed powerful and heart-rendering. A Godly mother will go to great lengths to make sure that her children are well taken care of. In the passage above, the Canaanite woman learned that Jesus was in the region and came to Him crying out for her demon-possessed daughter. The Disciples wanted to send her away because she was a Canaanite. But Jesus was impressed with her faith in Him. She was even willing to be humiliated if it would cause her daughter to be healed. Because of her faith, Jesus healed her daughter.
From this passage, I urge the following points:
1. Godly mothers face many difficulties but are willing to be steadfast if it will help their children. The Canaanite woman had heard the Disciples try to send her away. She was not Jewish and faced discrimination as a result. Many mothers today still face discrimination of one kind or another. No matter who you are, it is reassuring to know that you can go to the Lord in prayer, and He will hear you, and bless you.
2. Godly mothers are will to go to "JESUS" to help their children. How many times have you heard a Godly mother praying for her children. The Canaanite woman did not allow her nationality to hinder her from going to Jesus. She knew that Jesus could help her. And He did!
3. Jesus holds Godly mothers in high esteem. He gave the Canaanite woman what she asked for. He did not withhold His blessing from her because she was not Jewish. "All" can go to God through Jesus Christ. We thank God for Godly Mothers.
Happy Mother's Day!
