REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE!
Remember Lot's wife. (Luke 17:32)
Now that we are in a new year, it is important to look forward and not backwards. If 2012 was a good year for you, excellent. On the other hand if it was a "not-so-good" year, be glad that it is over. In both cases, we must realize that it is gone, never to be seen again. Our attitudes should be that the year 2013 will be a better year regardless. My advice to you is to get up, go forward, and claim the blessings that God has for us this new year.
Most of you are familiar with the story of Lot. Although Lot started off as a good citizen, he allowed Sodom's society to influence his life in a negative way. God extended grace to Lot and his family by allowing them to leave Sodom before God destroyed it. God told them to leave and "not look back."
However Lot's wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.
We all have choices in life. Lot's wife loved the world of Sodom so much that she could not let it go. Her disobedience resulted in her death. She had a choice and she blew it by looking back when God told her not to. Are you a person who holds on to the past when you should be striving for the high calling of the mark that the future holds? When you are faced with the choice of obeying God, or returning to the worldly life, remember Lot's wife!
Ultimately Lot became drunk and his daughter had an incestuous relationship with him. Change only comes when we are willing to let go of the world we used to cherish. God always has something better for His people. He will judge those who keep looking back when they ought to be moving forward. Before turning back, remember Lot's wife.
If Jesus comes back today, will you be ready to greet Him? Are you living the way He wants you to live, or are you holding on to the "so-called good old days?" The choice is yours. Go forward with Jesus, or turn back and be destroyed. But before you make your decision, "REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE!"
