FWMBC Members and Friends,
Last week many of you told me that you are optimistic about the year 2013.  We agreed that the positive attitude that we take into 2013 will make a big difference.  I am encouraged that many of you are determined to work harder in your ministries to make things better.  A positive attitude and hard work can go a long way in getting things accomplished.

And as we have done in the past, please pray for our sick and shut-in members.

                                LIFE IS A TEST!

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the TESTING of your faith produces patience. (James 1:2)

Most of us have dreaded taking a test in school from time to time.  We would have preferred to have the teacher give us an automatic "A" and pass us to the next course.  But school does not work that way, and "life" does not either.  In the case of "life's" lessons, we must rely on our faith to do well.  When trouble pops up in your life, how well do you handle it?  Do you fall apart and have a pity party?  Or do you count it all joy and realize that God is using the experience to teach you something that will bless you in the future.  No one really likes to take a test all the time, but if we handle the test God's way, the benefits will result in a good grade.  And make no mistake about it, we will be tested in 2013.

In this passage, James (a Pastor) in one of the early churches wanted his congregation to know that trouble would come in their lives as Christians.  However he also wanted them to know that they were prepared to handle these trials.  James was often referred to as "Old Camel Knees" because of thick calluses built up on his knees from determined prayer.  For us today, prayer goes a long way in preparing us for life's test.

As we prepare for life's test in 2013, also remember these 4 points: 1. We are built for the test;  2.  We should have the right attitude for the test; 3. There are always advantages to a test; and 4.  God will allow you to have an open book test!

Point 1. Before an automobile is sold it is generally road tested to make sure that it meets the standards for safe driving.  As believers, we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit to be able to withstand all of the test this life has to offer.  WE ARE BUILT FOR THE TEST.

Point 2. We should not worry about test.  Rather our attitude should be that we "count it all joy!"  An attitude of faith will carry us through. HAVE A RIGHT ATTITUDE FOR THE TEST!

Point 3.  Testing produces something good in us.  James said it causes us to gain patience.  Patience produces faith that helps us go through the storms of life.  If there was no test, there would be no testimony!  THERE ADVANTAGES TO A TEST!

Point 4.  I enjoyed open book test when I was in school.  God allows us to open the Book (the Bible) when we find ourselves in a test.  How can we go wrong with an open book test.  GOD ALLOWS US TO HAVE OPEN BOOK TEST.

God wants us to pass all the test that life has to offer.  Life, itself, is a test, and God has all of the answers.  Hallelujah!
