Pizza Party Mixer at
 Mountain Mikes Pizza
Plan on attending our festive mixer, Wednesday, October 9, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Mountain Mike's Pizza 5267 Sunrise Blvd. (Quail Point Shopping Center), Fair Oaks. RSVP: 916-961-4000.

mini-pizza-spatula.jpg Owner and host, Paul Grewal will be serving the finest pizza, soft drinks and making premium chilled beer available at
1/2 price.

The "Business Card Match-up" mixer game will also continue, and works like this:  On the way in, take out a business card, a friendly ambassador will cut it in half for you and drop one half in a collection bowl.  You keep the other

half, then fish out a half-card of another attendee from the bowl.  Relax, mingle, have a good time, and try to find your "other half."  Someone else will also be looking for you to complete themselves, so that's at least two connections for you to make at this mixer (but you're certainly welcome to connect with more than just two!).

So if you still have other members to meet, or if you have a guest in mind who might enjoy making new acquaintances and possible strategic business connections, come on out and enjoy the pizza, beer, and professional networking. It's a huge part of what Chamber membership is about!  See you there between 5:30 and 7:30!

Be sure to bring plenty of business cards and a raffle prize. For further information, call the Chamber 916-967-2903.

Donate to Safe Halloween
happy-halloween2.jpgIn 1984, the Fair Oaks Chamber started a program that provided a safe way for children to Trick or Treat throughout the entire zip code. The Safe Halloween encouraged children to go to participating businesses. After the sparkplug behind it retired - Executive Director Marsha Karley, it was scaled back and taken over by the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District. Now it has a permanent home and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks.  Free crafts and activities are planned for the event that will be held October 31, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.  in Plaza Park, Fair Oaks Village. Each child will also receive a free book as well as candy. Chamber members outside the Village can participate by bringing candy and their business card to the Chamber office or the Business Lunch this month. Baskets will be set up for you. For further information: Anne Browning 928-202-2141 or the Chamber office 916-967-2903.

We had a great time at our annual golf tournament September 27thand enjoyed perfect weather.
Dustin Buck's team tied with Tom Struhm's team with a score of 60. Dustin's team was best overall and received the "tournament jackets" (with an embroidered Chamber logo!) which were a fun new addition to the prizes.

Congratulations to Thomas Reid, Attorney with Happe Reid PC, who raised the most money and is our new honorary mayor for 2014. Congratulations and a hearty thank you are in order to Millie Finch and Steven Danford for their hard work and dedication to the race.

I will be representing the Chamber at the Bella Vista High School Career Day on October 11th where I will be sharing career opportunities to students in the field of engineering. I also represented the Chamber at Clean and Sober Living by presenting a certificate of achievement to Don Troutman in recognition of the 20th anniversary of successful leadership.

I also presented a certificate of recognition of retirement to Robert Matthews of the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District. If you missed the ribbon cutting at Jasper's at Madison and Dewey last week - I missed it myself - then I recommend you drop in to enjoy their great food! Mary and I went there to say hello and make amends for missing the ribbon cutting and had a primo burger! Supporting fellow chamber members has its benefits for sure. The Chamber is here to support your business too. Get involved meet other business owners. If you have a new business or are relatively new to Fair Oaks or just don't know how to get involved, we would love to hear from you!

Enjoy the beautiful Fall weather!  If you would like to bring candy or children's books for the Safe Halloween event, the Chamber office will get them to the Rotary Club of Fair Oak for distribution on October 31.
