20th Anniversary
Taste of Fair Oaks
wines It seems like only yesterday the Taste of Fair Oaks began and was held in the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse. The very popular event soon outgrew the venue and had to move to a larger place.

The North Ridge Country Club, 7600 Madison Ave in Fair Oaks had the space, was available and offered two patios, large banquet room, space on the greens for a putting contest, ample registration area, roomy area for live entertainment and dancing, plenty of parking, golf carts to take you to and from the main entrance and more.

Now it's time to celebrate the 20th Anniversary!

The festive, fun-filled evening will be held, Friday, June 7, 6:00-9:30 p.m. at North Ridge Country Club. It is sponsored by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce.

Pre-event Tickets: $40 and Tickets at the Door: $45.  Advance tickets will soon be available on the Chamber website.

Area restaurants, regional wineries and microbreweries will be in attendance for guests to taste and sample the exhibitor's food and beverages.

In addition to the sampling of wine, beer, food and desserts, attendees will enjoy live music, a golf putting contest ($5,000 grand prize), gift raffle and silent auction.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit VIVA, Volunteers in Victim Assistance.

Information: Chair Roselyn Barbray, Take Shape for Life, 916-612-3352.

We at the Chamber continue to pursue our goal of helping promote member businesses any way we can by providing a business friendly atmosphere that promotes interaction and communication between members as well as to potential customers and clients. The Chamber Board of Directors is dedicated to helping members succeed in their business ventures.

Perhaps this is an old cliché, but as a business owner you are the "Captain of your ship". Now, if the ship is tied up in port, no amount of steering will result in forward movement. The ship must leave the dock or you will never reach your destination.

Here are a few suggestions on how you can get a greater benefit from your Chamber:

  • Participate on a Committee
  • Share your goals with our Associate Members at the mixers. Our Associate members are a great resource
  • Support the Honorary Mayor's Race. A great way to meet other business owners and spread the word on your enterprises

The Chamber is a catalyst for business growth. Your business is your business. If you add the Chamber to the mix your business goals may just be a bit easier to reach!

Last month I mentioned here that the
Honorary Mayor's Race starts this month. I am very pleased to note that we now have three candidates! Let's do our very best to support Millie Finch, owner of Trends and Treats; Stephen Danford, Home2Roost; and Thomas Reid, Attorney. This year's race promises to be the best yet if we all participate!  Remember, every time you attend a Chamber event you are promoting your business!

The Fair Oaks Fiesta has come and gone and we all had a grand time. Many thanks are in order: Rand Jacobs for stepping up to chair this event for the last year, Jan Bass Otto for co-chairing the event; Liz Yoakum for organizing the childrens park; Kathy O'Brien for gathering raffle prizes; Charles Miller for organizing the parade; Betty Swan for helping with permits and traffic control; and Don Troutman for setting up and taking down the barricades.  As we dial down from the action of the Fiesta, we are ramping up for the twentieth annual A Taste of Fair Oaks!

On that note, coming up in June is the 20th annual A Taste of Fair Oaks, Graduations, and Father's Day. Do you want your business included on the June Flyer? Let us know soon to secure a place for your business promotion in the flyer for June. It's good for business!
