20th Anniversary
Taste of Fair Oaks
It seems like only yesterday the Taste of Fair Oaks began and was held in the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse. The very popular event soon outgrew the venue and had to move to a larger place.
The North Ridge Country Club, 7600 Madison Ave in Fair Oaks had the space, was available and offered two patios, large banquet room, space on the greens for a putting contest, ample registration area, roomy area for live entertainment and dancing, plenty of parking, golf carts to take you to and from the main entrance and more.
Now it's time to celebrate the 20th Anniversary!
The festive, fun-filled evening will be held, Friday, June 7, 6:00-9:30 p.m. at North Ridge Country Club. It is sponsored by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce.
Pre-event Tickets: $40 and Tickets at the Door: $45. Advance tickets will soon be available on the Chamber website.
Area restaurants, regional wineries and microbreweries will be in attendance for guests to taste and sample the exhibitor's food and beverages.
In addition to the sampling of wine, beer, food and desserts, attendees will enjoy live music, a golf putting contest ($5,000 grand prize), gift raffle and silent auction.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit VIVA, Volunteers in Victim Assistance.
Information: Chair Roselyn Barbray, Take Shape for Life, 916-612-3352.

Spring is here. Is it just me or is time flying by at an accelerating rate? I think not on both counts. Folks are getting busier these days with their pursuits and commitments. From my perspective things are looking up a bit for Chamber businesses in Fair Oaks. The main purpose of the Fair Oaks Chamber is to support member's businesses through communications and connections with other member businesses and to the community at large.
Last month I mentioned that we started a monthly themed email in January (New Year, New You) where we emphasized goods and services offered by our members. We've followed up in February (Valentine's Day) and March (St. Patrick's Day & Easter). Do you want your business included on the April or May email? Let us know soon to secure a place. There is no charge, it's another Chamber benefit.
Did you attend the last luncheon? If not, you missed and excellent (and candid) talk by Marcus Breton describing his experiences as a Sacramento Bee columnist. Our speaker coordinator, Pete Schroeder, is doing a yeoman's job getting speakers for our luncheons. The Chamber Luncheons are held on the third Thursday of the month from 12 noon -1:30 pm. Come at 11:30 to network. Mark your calendars and join us.
And now for a shameful plug: I am once again heading up the Golf Committee this year and we need additional committee members. Contact the office, 916-967-2909 or call me at 916-967-8861.
The honorary mayor's race starts in May and we have one dynamic candidate so far. Millie Finch, owner of Trends-n-Treats, 8929 Madison Ave. #200 (at Hazel). Thank you Millie! Now, we have plenty of room for more candidates. Consider the opportunities associated with Running for Honorary Mayor. It's good for business!

Last Chance to Support the "Dave Cox Memorial Interchange"
We are happy to announce that a fundraising campaign for the "Senator Dave Cox Memorial Interchange" project has been launched.

The next step in the process of completing this project is to raise the appropriate funds to create and erect the signs marking this special designation. All funding will come from private donations and other non-state sources. No state monies or resources will be used.
The Chamber is honored to be playing a part in celebrating the memory of Senator Cox through these fundraising efforts. This memorial is just a small way we can recognize the legacy of good work Senator Cox conducted on behalf of the Fair Oaks community and the state of California.
If you are interested in donating to the "Senator Dave Cox Memorial Interchange" signage, please contact the Chamber at (916) 967-2903 for more information. Checks can be made payable to: FOCC/Dave Cox Memorial Sign and mailed to the Fair Oaks Chamber, P.O. Box 352, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
A dedication ceremony will be held May 3 at 10:30 a.m. to unveil the new sign. |
