20th Anniversary
Taste of Fair Oaks
It seems like only yesterday the Taste of Fair Oaks began and was held in the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse. The very popular event soon outgrew the venue and had to move to a larger place.
The North Ridge Country Club, 7600 Madison Ave in Fair Oaks had the space, was available and offered two patios, large banquet room, space on the greens for a putting contest, ample registration area, roomy area for live entertainment and dancing, plenty of parking, golf carts to take you to and from the main entrance and more.
Now it's time to celebrate the 20th Anniversary!
The festive, fun-filled evening will be held, Friday, June 7, 6:00-9:30 p.m. at North Ridge Country Club. It is sponsored by the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce.
Pre-event Tickets: $40 and Tickets at the Door: $45. Advance tickets will soon be available on the Chamber website.
Area restaurants, regional wineries and microbreweries will be in attendance for guests to taste and sample the exhibitor's food and beverages.
In addition to the sampling of wine, beer, food and desserts, attendees will enjoy live music, a golf putting contest ($5,000 grand prize), gift raffle and silent auction.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit VIVA, Volunteers in Victim Assistance.
Information: Chair Roselyn Barbray, Take Shape for Life, 916-612-3352.

A Change Is In The Wind
After four years, the Board of Directors has found it necessary to raise the Membership Dues. The increase is minimal and reflects the cost of doing business.
During that time, we: Lost our lease - needed to move to a new location after 30 years; Moved to a new location - more spacious with floor to ceiling windows in the lobby, with a designated conference room, ample parking in front and back of our building; Embraced social media, i.e. Facebook; We've gone Green and are now sending out a monthly e-newsletter, e-blasts; Updated our logo; Printed 700 Business Directories: 400 color copies to members and 300 black and white community editions; Started "Cash Mobs" - a new way of promoting a variety of businesses throughout the Fair Oaks area; added Better Business Skills seminars and
Fair Oaks Women's Round Table Discussions.
The rates will not be increased for Associate Members.
If you have any questions or comments, contact
Jan Bass Otto, Executive Director at 916-967-2903.

Donate to the "Dave Cox Memorial Interchange"
We are happy to announce that a fundraising campaign for the "Senator Dave Cox Memorial Interchange" project has been launched.
During the 2011-2012 Legislative session, Senator Ted Gaines (R-Rocklin) received unanimous, bi-partisan support for Senate Concurrent Resolution 97 honoring Senator Dave Cox and naming the Highway 50 Interchange at Hazel Avenue in Sacramento County as the "Senator Dave Cox Memorial Interchange."
The next step in the process of completing this project is to raise the appropriate funds to create and erect the signs marking this special designation. All funding will come from private donations and other non-state sources. No state monies or resources will be used.
The Chamber is honored to be playing a part in celebrating the memory of Senator Cox through these fundraising efforts. This memorial is just a small way we can recognize the legacy of good work Senator Cox conducted on behalf of the Fair Oaks community and the state of California.
Senator Cox represented the First Senate District for six years prior to his untimely death in July of 2010. Senator Cox was an instrumental member of the California State Legislature who served as Assembly Republican Leader from 2001-2004. A pillar of the Sacramento community, he also previously served on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors and was an elected Board Member of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
"Beyond his achievements and contributions, Senator Dave Cox was a close friend and beloved colleague," said Senator Gaines. "Senator Cox was held in very high regard amongst those he represented and was respected as a dedicated and fair lawmaker who worked tirelessly for his constituents. It is only appropriate to honor Senator Cox by naming this portion of the First Senate District on Highway 50 in his memory. I sincerely appreciate the Fair Oaks Chamber for leading the fundraising efforts on this important project."
If you are interested in donating to the "Senator Dave Cox Memorial Interchange" signage, please contact the Chamber at (916) 967-2903 for more information. Checks can be made payable to: FOCC/Dave Cox Memorial Sign and mailed to the Fair Oaks Chamber, P.O. Box 352, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
A dedication ceremony will be held to unveil the new signage once the appropriate funds have been raised and the signage erected.
