 TWO CHAMBER MEMBERS RECEIVE STATE HONORS
Don Troutman, owner and founder of Clean and Sober Traditional Living in Fair Oaks recently received an honor from the California Dept of Alcohol and Drug Programs. He was awarded the 2012 Director's Award for Innovative and Effective Approaches to Recovery. 

The Fair Oaks Cemetery District received a prestigious award recently -  one of only six cemeteries out of a total of 60 districts. They received  the Public Cemetery Accreditation Award. Recipients of the award  are considered conducting Best Business Practices within the industry.

Kathy Jones - New Honorary Mayor

Welcome our new Honorary Mayor, Kathy Jones! The announcement was made, September 12 at North Ridge Country Club during the Mixer and Mayor Reception. Eleven past Mayors were in attendance. Marlena Smith was named Vice Mayor and will also attend events. Both will present half of their campaign funds to their selected charity/project at the Business Luncheon, Oct. 18.
witch Kathy Jones is shown on the left, at the well-attended Halloween Mixer held at the Fair Oaks Cemetery District. It was one of her first appearances as the new Mayor. We're not sure what she was drinking to alter her appearance, but a good time was had by all.

Bella Vista, & Trade To Be Featured

Mark your calendars! Renee Taylor will be giving you some "News You Can Use." Renee is a SMUD Board Director, an active parent at Bella Vista High and now President/CEO at the Northern California World Trade  Center." She will be the featured speaker at the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce Business Luncheon Thursday, Oct 18, noon, at Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse, 7997 California Ave, Fair Oaks CA 95628. The entree will be Beef Stroganoff. 

Table decorations will be courtesy of The Chocolate Architect. 
 
There will be networking at 11:30, followed by the program which starts at noon. The cost for the luncheon is $17.00 for chamber members and $20.00 for members without reservations, guests and future members. RSVP to the chamber, (916) 967-2903 or respond to this email.

Poker Tournament - Join the fun!

Tournament Friday, October 26 at nearby Folsom Lake Bowl and Casino located at

"Cash Mob" is Coming Your Way
The Chocolate Architect will be the first "Cash Mob" host to be featured in a series of fun ways for you to shop Fair Oaks Members First!  It will be held November 1-9. We're adding a Fair Oaks "twist" to it and opening it up to other chamber members in the shopping centers. Here's how it works... The Chocolate Architect will offer a featured item for $10 or less. Go in and purchase it - then, you will find out about the other offers. We'll do this monthly at different businesses. The Chocolate Architect is owned by Becki Tyner and located at 8505 Madison Avenue, Ste. #120 Fair Oaks, CA 95628. November Trade Fair - at North Ridge 
Looking for a unique way to promote your business? You'll have an opportunity to do so at the Thursday, November 15 Business Luncheon. To reserve a space, call the Chamber, 967-2903.

This year, our annual Networking Mixer will be held at the North Ridge Country Club, 7600 Madison Avenue (at Mariposa). Times: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Set-up time is 11:00 a.m. The reason for the move to the country club? To offer more opportunities for members to participate. The ballroom is larger venue and offers more tables for members to display products and services. 

The table top trade show will be by reservation and on a first come, first served basis. Each business will share a portion of a table, bring a raffle prize and have microphone time.  Table coverings will be provided.

The program is you! Cost is $50 and includes lunch. Details will follow.

Cost to attend and enjoy a lunch buffet only - $17.
