New Piedmont Ave. Branch is Open
Grand Opening Celebration Saturday, December 1

 The Piedmont Avenue Branch relocation has been successfully completed, and the branch has reopened at its new site at 80 Echo Avenue, on the grounds of Piedmont Avenue Elementary School.
A Grand Opening Celebration will be held Saturday, December 1, from 11 am to 1 pm. Entertainment will be provided by Mr. Shap, who performs magic tricks and makes balloon art - fun and laughs for the entire family. A few speeches will be made, food will be served, and the winners of the Piedmont Avenue Merchant Association Halloween Raffle will be announced.
The new site is just a few blocks from the branch's longtime home on 41st Avenue. The Piedmont Avenue Branch moved to achieve lower total facility costs and the stability of a long-term lease. The Oakland Public Library worked with the community for several years to explore and evaluate options for the branch.

Jose Luis Orozco Performing on December 11
Folk Icon Giving Free Concerts at 81st Ave. and Chavez Branches
 Folk musician Jose Luis Orozco is giving two performances at OPL locations on Tuesday, December 11. He will perform at 81st Avenue Branch at 1:30 pm, and at Cesar Chavez Branch at 5:30 pm.
Mr. Orozco is a recording artist, author, teacher, and performer. He creates fun music that inspires children to sing, dance, clap, and laugh. His music is his way to pass along his rich Latin American culture to the children of today.

DECEMBER CLOSURES
OPL CLOSED DEC. 22 - JAN. 1
The Oakland Public Library will close for the holidays and due to budget cuts from Saturday, December 22, 2012 through Tuesday, January 1, 2013.
All locations will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
