Respect Yourself, Protect Yourself
A College Prep Workshop for High School & College Young Women and Their Moms

This College Prep Workshop will prepare young women to navigate their college years in a safe and healthy way, offering smart strategies for handling many health, safety, and social issues that young women face including sexuality, alcohol use, stress, risk of sexual assault, peer pressure, diet, and exercise.
Dr. M Susan Scanlon, board-certified physician and author of "The Gyne's Guide for College Women, How to Have a Healthy, Safe and Happy Four Years," designed this interactive workshop specifically for high school and college young women and their moms.

College Prep Workshop includes:

Health and Safety: From decisions about sexuality and risks of alcohol use to the latest safety apps and the "Power of the word NO," Dr. Scanlon helps young women think through college health and social challenges before they face them, encouraging them to consider, "what kind of woman do I want to be" before they go to college.

Self Defense: A Fight-Like-a-Girl self-defense lesson taught by MBD Marshall Arts will instruct girls on two moves they can do to protect themselves away from home.

Exercise: Amy Winter, personal trainer and owner of Fitness Team Training, will teach participants "The Dorm Room Workout", how to avoid gaining that "freshman 15," and managing stress in a healthy way.

Healthy Eating: Carolyn Collins, Certified Health Coach from Be Healthy Within, will present strategies and recipes for healthy college eating. There will be tasty smoothies to sample.

Participants should wear comfortable clothes.

Dr. Jill Hoprasart is Running London Marathon and Raising Money for SmileTrain

Join us in supporting Dr. Jill Hoprasart in her efforts to raise awareness and funds for Smile Train.

As many of you know, Dr. Hoprasart's goal is to run all World Marathon Majors marathons. So far she has run marathons in Chicago, New York City, Berlin and Tokyo!

On April 24, 2016, Dr. Hoprasart is running the London Marathon and will raise funds for Smile Train to help give children around the world not only new smiles, but also a second chance at life.

Smile Train is an international children's charity that provides free surgery to poor children suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate. Children born with cleft cannot eat or speak properly, aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job and face very difficult lives of shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Some children are even abandoned or killed-all because of the way they look. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are too poor to afford the simple repair surgery that takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as $250 dollars. Yet with your help, we can save these children and give them the life changing surgery they both need and deserve.

Help Dr. Hoprasart in her efforts to support SmileTrain by contributing here.
