Greetings!

University of Florida Campaign for Charities

Radiant Hands was accepted into the University's Payroll deduction program for making charitable contributions. This is quite an honor and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity. This is an easy way to "make a difference".  Enrollment begins in the fall and payroll deduction starts January 2014.

NO REFRIGERATOR
SYTROFOAM BOXES FILLED WITH ICE

A few years ago, PC was working at UF. She had a stable job (albeit lower paying), and was the sole support of her three children, mother and herself. First the car broke down, then the kids needed clothes for school, her mom fell sick and the fridge died. Because they lived pay check to pay check she didn't have money to fix the refrigerator and buying one was not an option. Instead PC took old styrofoam containers, bought ice bags and kept perishables in the boxes. In the past Radiant Hands helped PC with other expenses (utilities) and when we heard about this latest crisis our volunteers contacted area appliance stores trying to locate a used fridge. After numerous calls we were able to get a fridge at minimal cost with free delivery and removal of old machine. Eventually, PC moved to another state and better employment. She is now over her financial crisis and able to support her family. Radiant Hands was there during her darkest moments.

FOREVER GRATEFUL

I am a single disabled mother. I am having a very hard time right now and am in dire need of some help. I have a mentally disabled special needs 1 year old daughter along with another 13 year old. in addition to my own disability. I have experienced many hardships in the last 6 mos.

I lost my position of 2 years at the U of F because of lack of work, this was a OPS position so I am unable to get any unemployment benefits. The range of my electricity bill was from 30-50 dollars now it is 200 dollars a month. I went to the Dept of Children and Families for help only to be told to sign up for SSI or TANF. Which takes a long time I was given an allotment for my two girls for 156.00 a month support from TANF (Temporary assistance for needy families). Although I am not financially able to contribute money there may be some way I can be a blessing to someone else through your organization. I am and will be forever grateful for your blessing.

RH then received this email after we were able to help CC

"Thank You So Much!! You have no idea how that lightened my financial load! I am forever greatful and will be sure to send doantions when i am able. Again Thanks and God Bless!"

THANK YOU

We received a $500 donation to the Radiant Works Scholarship to assist students with the new online testing program. Paper exams are going to be discontinued and the online test now will cost $130.
