BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I

Hard times gradually found its way to our home. We prayed, we worked, we paid what we could, we negotiated, renegotiated, all while praying for blessings from any direction. Contract conflicts, short pays, no pays, promises to pay became dismal matters for future civil action. What would we do? .... Murphy's Law pervaded our household. ... The doctor bills were piling up, chemotherapy was expensive even with the insurance co-pays. One test came after the other. ...... After three years, my body and financial accounts reflected the wear and tear of a favorite pair of jeans.

.... Radiant Hands; the helping hands. Those sisters had always been diligent in helping women. Initially, embarrassment tendered a refrain. It was not easy to admit that hard times had found its way to the household. Asking for help was such a difficult decision to make. Then I reflected ...  "You need help," my Angels whispered. After praying to let my request be successful, I sought the email address that had so frequently announced good news of charitable events. My angel reminded me,"you have helped so many when you were able, now it's your turn to ask."

With humbled heart restored, I wrote to RH briefly explaining our situation and made a request for assistance with some of our needs. No sooner had I written, a response returned. I cried. A telephone number was provided to call [one of the voluneers] and the rest became a story of humility and kindness. [She] was kind and understanding, promising that the group could assist us. Thank God for Radiant Hands!

I do recall the soft-spoken voice of my gracious benefactor, saying, after I offered to repay the organization. " Don't worry about that. When things get better and you are able, you can send what you can. We do not want to add to your current stresses. Keep us in your prayers." Once again, the floodgates opened. "Such consideration," I thought.

......They were sensitive to my struggle. I pray daily for the women and financial contributors of Radiant Hands. I pray that God brings them the resources to help other women who probably never expect to fall into difficult times.

No amount of return could ever repay Radiant Hands, because the organization helped us work on one of our series of financial problems, help with paying our mortgage. I pray that the women of Radiant Hands receive God's greatest blessings for remembering the "least of these." Thank you again, Radiant Hands for helping us when our way became quite dim.
