Dear Members & Friends,

Election Day Preview

Are you planning to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 6 but are still confused about some ballot measures and state propositions? The Chamber's Inside Oakland Breakfast Forum this Friday - Oct. 26 - will feature an Election Day Preview with Alex Evans, national pollster at EMC Research, and political reporter Matt Artz of the Oakland Tribune. Our guests will share their insights about local, state and national election trends as we approach Election Day.  Come have your questions answered. The breakfast is free and open to Chamber members ($10 for non-members), and runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. here at the Chamber.

Get involved in Oakland's Workforce Investment

The Oakland Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is looking for new industry-experienced board members. The Oakland WIB plays an important and critical role in overseeing the federally-funded employment and training programs and services in Oakland. These programs and services help job seekers gain employment and connect businesses with a qualified workforce. Are you a local business owner who is interested in making sure the money goes to training, and efficiently prepares workers for industry jobs? If so, contact Eleanor Hollander, the Chamber's director of economic development, at (510) 874-4800, ext. 320. Board and committee meetings are typically held once a month at Oakland's City Hall.
