Holiday Cheese Sale.  Tom Plechaty has several cheese packages available for sale, a great gift for the Holidays.  See Tom at a meeting, or contact him to make arrangements.  Last year, the club made almost $1500 on this fundraiser!

The Opening Act

Club President, Zach Edwards, called the meeting of November 25 to order.  Once again providing the entertainment again was Jonathan Turner and his Rock Island Turkey Trotters.

Tom Plechaty reminded us that next Monday will be the last day he will be able to accept cheese orders.  Don't miss out.

We were also informed that the Coats for Kids project will hopefully occur December 6 with the kind and gracious assistance of J. C. Penney.

Zach titillated us with a reminder that we will again be participating in the Martin Luther King Center Christmas party with the date and assignments coming up shortly.

Yes, we still have a few Dining Club books, so take advantage of this opportunity to try some of the fine eateries in our area.

Chris Elsberg thanked all those who volunteered to assist at the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the King Center and reminded us that the Salvation Army bell-ringing will be occurring on December 6.

Guests included a number of individuals that members of the Club brought to introduce them to Kiwanis.  We were also delighted to serve as host to representatives of the Builders Club from Jordan School and prospective leaders for the Builders Club at Washington Junior High School.

In Fun and Fellowship, we had a unique situation where Jordan Builders Club members won both the preliminary prize and the grand prize.  Mike Bell reminded all in attendance that this was simply a fun game of guessing and had nothing to do with games of chance.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by longtime Club member and past President, Mark Amacher.  Mark made an excellent presentation on his personal experiences of events of 50 years ago.  He began by providing the setting of events during that period, including his participation as a Marine stationed in Washington, D.C.  He then went on to relate the events as they affected him, going from socializing with a few of his squad members to pulling a security assignment during the funeral parade for President Kennedy.

PHRASE FOR THE DAY
