Club President, Jeff Behrens, called the meeting of August 5 to order. Once again, providing the entertainment was Jonathan Turner with some of his favorite renditions in recognition of Picnic Day celebrated in Australia.
Tom Plechaty gave an announcement on the status of covering all bases for the softball tournament this weekend, other than the need for someone to pour beer for those who like it crisp at 8:00 in the morning.
Adam Bain provided us with entry forms for the bags tournament and worked the crowd on getting a record number of teens to participate this year. Board building is on the agenda for the bags group, and all are invited to participate.
By the time you receive this, you will have missed the Interclub at Annawan the evening of August 5.
We received a reminder of the Labor Day parade and were also encouraged to participate with our feet.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize. Gene Smith won the opportunity to go for the grand prize but graciously allowed Mike Bell to work his wonders on enhancing the Club treasury.

The program was given by Mr. Dave Wrath, Sports Information Director as well as director for about a dozen other functions at Augustana. This hardworking gentleman graduated from Augustana and eventually found his way back to his alma mater after developing his skills in writing and media communication composition. Dave entertained us with a number of amusing anecdotes about his early years after graduation while also informing the group of the spectacular performance that Augustana student athletes have attained, particularly, in the area of academic All Americans. Dave also discussed the colossal building project in and near the football stadium.
