Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates

John Deere Classic July 11-14, Volunteer Marshalls.  Contact Chris Caspers if you are available to volunteer for this annual event.

The Opening Act

President Jeff Behrens called the meeting of June 17 to order.  Providing the entertainment again was Jonathan Turner and his Father's Day Bill-Payers.

There were several announcements.  First, we were reminded that Peanut Weekend would be this-coming weekend at the Rock Island Hy-Vee store.  Daryl told us that coverage looked adequate except for Saturday afternoon, when it looks like he is about as lonely as the Maytag repairman.  Please help out if you can.

We were next informed that the annual meeting would be held next Monday, June 24.  A second reading of the slate of officers and Board members was given.

Finally, Gene Smith gave his final, kind reminder on the Birdies for Charity project.  The membership was informed that next week, Gene would become less charitable in his reminders.

Liz Loveless announced that she is again collecting hotel bath product samples, so if you're going to be doing any traveling, and you really don't need the stuff dumped on your bathroom counter, bring the products home and give them to Liz.

In Fun and Fellowship, the preliminary prize went to the Kartel.  Jud Briggs qualified for the grand prize.

The Feature Attraction

The program segment was devoted to a report on recent grants.  The Board approved grants to Rock Island girls' softball in the amount of $300; Churches United in the amount of $500; Children's Advocacy Center in the amount of $500; the Child Abuse Council in the amount of $1,000; the Rock Island Entertainment District in the amount of $1,000; and Rock Island High School Key Club in the amount of $1,000.
