President Jeff Behrens called the meeting of April 29 to order. Providing the entertainment again was Jonathan Turner with his Flaming Croutons.
The first announcement came from Tom Plechaty, who thanked everyone who purchased roses and assisted with distribution. He made special mention of Bob Stecker, who graciously donated the space from his business. Tom estimated that we made about $1,500 - $1,600 on this project.
Bob VanDeVoorde announced that $55 was collected for the food pantry.
Steve Schroder announced that by the time you receive this newsletter, you will have missed the Interclub dinner in Geneseo Tuesday night, April 30.
Gene Smith is fortunately still in a positive frame of mind as he provided Birdies for Charity pledge cards for those who have not yet obtained one from him.
President Jeff again emphasized that the dues statements were available at the meeting. Please try to remember to pick these up and save the Club postage.
Guests included a large contingent from the Moline Club. Mark Peterson of the Moline Club announced that he would like to get together with our Club for a golf outing sometime in the fall. If you're interested, contact one of the Club officers or Board members.
Adam Bain gave another report on the bags tournament and mentioned that the tournament planning is moving alone briskly. One change from previous years is that besides the prizes for first, second and third place, there will also be five random drawings to help spread out more money from the tournament to participants. He also announced that there will be a road trip bags tournament Sunday, May 5, from 2:00 - 4:00 at the John Glenn Elementary School in the North Scott School District.
In Fun and Fellowship, Kay Ingham won the preliminary prize, which she graciously donated back to the Club. The Kartel won the opportunity to go for the grand prize, but Bob Wakefield fell to the gamesmanship of Second Vice President, Zach Edwards.
