Club President, Jeff Behrens, called the meeting of March 4 to order. Again providing the entertainment was Jonathan Turner and his Wood Tick Snorkels.
The meeting started with the reinstitution of a practice the Club used to have of having a Club member make a brief statement on his or her background. At Monday's meeting, we probably all learned quite a number of things about Liz Loveless of which we had not been aware. Liz has lived an exciting and busy life, to be sure.
Tom Plechaty gave an announcement on roses and pancakes. Thus far, the pancake breakfast has netted the Club approximately $1,475.00. Rose Day will be April 24, but orders must be into Tom by April 9. Tom also needs help from someone to be able to participate in Rose Day sales to Rock Island Rotary Club on March 12.
The weather did not treat our InterClub Group kindly since the planned InterClub date at Moline was cancelled due to the snow storm and now cancelled due to the anticipated snow storm. Steve Schroeder announced that best bet now would be March 12.
President Jeff announced that next Tuesday, March 12, the board will be meeting.
Jeff also notes that there still remain a few Dining Tour books in our stock, which are now being sold for the low, low price of only $30 a piece, down from $35. These are still a bargain at any price.
Bill Nelson reminded us that egg stuffing will occur at the March 18 meeting and that the following Saturday will be the egg hunt.
In Fun and Fellowship, Tom Smith won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club. Mike Swartz won the chance for the grand prize, which he did wrest out of the hands of Mike Bell.
