Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates

If you are attending today's meeting, please bring your unused Pancake Day tickets, and ticket proceeds if possible.  We would like to wrap up a final accounting as quickly as possible!  Thanks to all who helped with this great event, with special recognition to Tom and Sandy Plechaty for all their hard work to make this happen!

The Opening Act

Club President, Jeff Behrens, called the meeting of February 18 to order.  Jonathan Turner once again took on entertainment responsibilities, along with his Millard Fillmore Favorite President Singers.

Liz Loveless gave us our first announcement concerning the Division 17 bowling tournament.  This event will be held April 7 at 1:00 p.m. in Geneseo.  If you would have some interest in joining the fun, it's not too late to shake the wrinkles out of that favorite polyester bowling shirt and soak those bowling shoes in a vat of Tinactin.

The next Interclub will be February 26 at noon.  Hosts will be the Moline Club which meets at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1330 - 13th Street, Moline.

Tom Plechaty gave a recap on Pancake Day and thanked all who volunteered.  Tom said that approximately 200 were served and around $1,400 was collected by the Club.  President Jeff extended the grateful appreciation of the Club for all of the work that Tom and his wife did in setting up and running this event.

One of the special features of Happy and Sad Dollars was Tom Ketelaar, who stated that despite the warm temperatures and green Luge trails, those who showed up had a delightful time at Use It or Luge It.

In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize and also won the opportunity to go for the grand prize, which Duncan Reid ably won.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by Jamie Lang, Interim General Manager of WQPT.  Jamie began by giving a brief summary of the WQPT operation, along with some of the unique features of that station, including its manner of support and its operation.  Jamie's focus was on a program which WQPT is sponsoring on stopping bullying.  Those who have studied the subject have found it to be the No. 1 reason why students drop out of school and one of the reasons for acute depression and problems of students today.  WQPT has a survey online which assists in its focus on getting people together and talking about the subject, understanding it better, and working to eliminate this problem.

Upcoming Programs
