Club President, Jeff Behrens, called the meeting of December 3 to order. Once again, Jonathan Turner provided the entertainment along with his Jingle Bell Rockers.
The first announcement came from Tom Hanson, who reminded us of the annual Davenport Club Tom & Jerry party on December 13 at 11:30. This is historically a fun event, especially for those who have managed to remember going. Check with Steve Schroder beforehand to make sure that your car insurance is still in effect and has the "Tom & Jerry party" exception.
Chris Elsberg thanked all who participated in the bell-ringing this past Friday and also reminded us of the various festivities going on in connection with the Martin Luther King Center holiday party. On December 6, the Club shopping mavens will be picking up gifts. Wrapping will take place on December 15, and the party is on the 19th. Participate to the extent possible.
Chris also made an announcement and an appeal from the First Day Fund, a project largely led by your fellow Kiwanis members.
A few Dining Tour books are still available, so if one of your New Year's resolutions is to get rounder by going for two-for-one lunches and dinners, here's your chance.
Dick Fislar reminded us of the annual evening at Circa January 23. Dining Tour books will come in handy for this as well.
Tom Plechaty announced that December 3 was the last day for buying goods from the Plechaty Cheese Factory. Orders will be filled next Monday.
Guests included members of the Jordan Middle School Builder's Club, with representatives who gave updates on their activities and projects, as well as members of the Rock Island High School Key Club.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize, which the Kartelette-in Chief, Lee Schenck, donated to the Builder's Club. For the grand prize, Jennifer Blohm of the new No-Tell Group qualified, but Mike Bell managed to preserve the Club funds.
