President Jeff Behrens called the meeting of November 19 to order. Providing the entertainment was the always popular Jonathan Turner and his Thanksgiving Gobblers.
President Jeff informed us that there will be no formal Club meetings on December 24 or December 31. This is no doubt intended for us to get out and acquire our own end-of-the-year stimulus packages.
Dick Fislar announced that the almost-annual holiday party would be held January 23 at Circa. Grab one of those Dining Tour books to pay for one's seating.
Tom Plechaty has that cheesy fundraising operation going again. As always, he has some real gouda cheese and a few new entries on the menu.
Chris Elsberg gave us the breakdown on coming holiday events. On November 30, we'll be assisting in bell ringing. There will be a Thanksgiving potluck at Rock Island High School sponsored by the Key Club this Wednesday. The Martin Luther King party will be held December 19 with events preceding it for acquiring and wrapping gifts. Chris also extended her thanks to those who participated in the King Center turkey dinner this past weekend.
Guests included representatives of the Rock Island High School and Alleman High School Key Clubs.
Adam Bain reported that the Coats for Kids event was highly successful and that the Davenport Old Navy store was as generous as the Moline store has been in the past. Adam also gave a postscript on the bags tournament about how he will be representing the Club in a trip down to Bradenton, Florida to assist in a bags tournament sponsored by the Pittsburgh Pirates professional baseball club. Adam made himself available for autographs after the meeting.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize. The Kartel also nosed out the Syndicate for the grand prize but Dick Fislar managed to let the grand prize slip through his fingers.
