April 12, 2013 - In March, BTAC launched a petition campaign regarding proposed tariff hikes for bicycles tabled in the 2013 Federal Budget. We asked that you print copies of this petition and circulate them to customers, staff, friends and family, and that they sign and send these back so they could be presented in the House of Commons.
Over the past month we have received many signed petitions but we have to keep the momentum going! A critical mass of original signatures is needed to send the message home to politicians: that these tariff reforms are a move in the wrong direction for the Canadian cycling industry and its consumers.
We've also designed postcards that voice bicycle consumers' concerns about bearing the cost of these tariffs (available on the btac.org website). The postcards will be included in the petitions we present in Ottawa.
We are hoping to have collected all petitions and postcards by the end of April in order to send a swift and strong message to Ottawa.
Also be sure to keep looped into the BTAC facebook page-"like" us to receive updates and share our links on your own social media channels to help us reach as many concerned cyclists and industry stakeholders as possible!
