Highlighting Fall Semester Achievements

September 8:  Prof. Melissa Murray (Affiliated Faculty) and other experts on "The
Roberts Court and Women" panel engaged a crowded room of students, faculty, and community members about several recent Supreme Court decisions and the
ir repercussions for women.

September 17
:  Jill E. Adams (Executive Director) and fellow Berkeley Law alumnae met with members of Congress to educate them about the Hyde Amendment and its impact on poor and low-income women and families.
 
September 20:  Prof. Kristin Luker (Faculty Director) and
 Adams presented "Trends, TRAPs, Trials, and Triumphs in the 2010s" to a record Number of registrants at Berkeley Law's Alumni Weekend.  


October 1
:  Prof. Zakiya Luna (Affiliated Faculty, former Postdoctoral Fellow) became Assistant Professor of Sociology at UC Santa Barbara. 
 
October 14:  Luker received the Wilbur Cross Medal - Yale's highest honor given to alumni for their outstanding achievements.
 
 
November 7-9:  Adams and Luna attended the Reproductive Justice Leadership Summit & 20th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago, IL.
 
December 12:  Yvonne Lindgren (Legal Fellow) received the Elena R. Gutierrez award for "exceptional commitment to the cause and service above and beyond the call of duty."
Spotlighting Spring Semester Opportunities

Writing Workshop on the Future of Reproduction 

CRRJ Founding Faculty Director Kristin Luker will lead a Writing Workshop on the Future of Reproduction in spring semester 2015.  The workshop will examine emerging legal issues surrounding a range of sexual and reproductive topics. This three-unit course will be held Wednesdays at 10:00 AM and cater to people who wish to write publication-ready articles.  To register, click here.

 

Student Administrative Assistant Position Open

Reproductive Justice Working Group 

 

Next semester, the working group will continue to explore questions that have plagued  efforts to secure reproductive rights and eliminate reproductive oppression, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized populations. We welcome participation by people new to reproductive justice, as well as those who work or study in the field.  For information about joining the group, click here.
