Churches unite to hire chaplain, offer worship at new state prison

INDEPENDENCE, Va. -- Volunteers admit that it's frightening at first, going inside River North Correctional Center to sit with men convicted of murder or child abuse.

"I was trembling. I was out of my comfort zone," said one volunteer from Floyd, Va.

United Methodists reach out to child with brain tumor

CINCINNATI -- "It's a testament of how great it is to be United Methodist," said the Rev. Joe Phillips," pastor at Daisy United Methodist Church in Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.

On Sept. 30, Phillip's 15-month-old daughter, Tillery, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
