DeFur leads Cokesbury UMC into growth surge, one year after losing senior pastor

 

On May 2, 2013, the 13th largest congregation in the denomination was stunned when its senior pastor, 62-year-old Steve Sallee, died of cardiomyopathy.

 

Since then, a "tsunami" has crashed down on Cokesbury United Methodist Church, says the new leader. "It's just like Steve to leave and cause a revival to happen."
