Let's Get Real
Let's Get Real
Let's Get Real doesn't sugarcoat the truth or feature adults lecturing kids about what to do when kids pick on them. Instead, it examines a variety of issues that lead to taunting and bullying, including racial differences, perceived sexual orientation, learning disabilities, religious differences, sexual harassment and others.

Fundraising Goal: $3,400

Campaign Dates: Dec. 1st, 2012 to Jan. 31st, 2013

Words from past recipients: "School has been hard, money has always been tight, and parenthood has been exhausting. Ask me if I'd change any of it my reply would be no. All of this has made me into who I am and now I know who I want to be." -Jordyn

"My son completely changed the way I think. When I found out I was going to have a baby I started to care about school and my grades. All I thought of doing was graduating and going to college to become a nurse or dental assistant. I think of being a nurse because ever since I was pregnant I saw that they help people and that's what I want to do" -Estefania

"When I found out I was going to be a teen father I was in tenth grade...All I remember my grandmother telling me was she was not shocked and to get a job. My family was not very supportive. I am going to do what I need to do to be a good father to my daughter. I am not going to be like my parents. I am going to be there for my child." -Miguel

SHATTER THE MYTHS! National Drug Facts Week (NDFW) is a health observance week for teens that aims to shatter the myths about drugs and drug abuse. Through community-based events and activities on the Web, on TV, and through contests, NIDA is working to encourage teens to get factual answers from scientific experts about drugs and drug abuse. Educate young people on the connections between alcohol and drugs and sexual relationships...taking drugs greatly impairs judgement and can lead to unwanted sexual connections, taking it farther than you would while not being under the influence, and can increase your chances of not protecting yourself or your partner during sex. Get the facts. And stay safe!
