Scholarship Drive
We're raising money to support our teen scholarship program! Every year, we give out scholarships to eight California teen parents and one California teen student leader to help them go on to secondary education-college or vocational school-after they graduate from high school. These scholarships are vital to help young people achieve their goals, and you can help! A small donation of $20 can contribute to the education of a teen in your area. Please help now. California youth need opportunities to succeed!
Fundraising Goal: $3,400
Campaign Dates: Dec. 1st, 2012 to Jan. 31st, 2013
Words from past recipients: "School has been hard, money has always been tight, and parenthood has been exhausting. Ask me if I'd change any of it my reply would be no. All of this has made me into who I am and now I know who I want to be." -Jordyn
"My son completely changed the way I think. When I found out I was going to have a baby I started to care about school and my grades. All I thought of doing was graduating and going to college to become a nurse or dental assistant. I think of being a nurse because ever since I was pregnant I saw that they help people and that's what I want to do" -Estefania
"When I found out I was going to be a teen father I was in tenth grade...All I remember my grandmother telling me was she was not shocked and to get a job. My family was not very supportive. I am going to do what I need to do to be a good father to my daughter. I am not going to be like my parents. I am going to be there for my child." -Miguel
2013 Scholarships Available in January Scholarships for pregnant and parenting teens and teens who have demonstrated leadership in the reproductive health field are offered by TeenNow California each year. The 2013 scholarships will be available in early January with a March deadline. (((Remember! Each scholarship applicant must be sponsored (no monetary involvement necessary) by a CURRENTLY paid TeenNow member. Not paid for 2013? Not to worry!
