The NH Supreme Court Rules Committee is seeking comment on several proposed rules, including those regarding interlocutory appeals in the superior court, effective dates of decrees in domestic cases, and clarifying when a lawyer licensed in another jurisdiction must be admitted in New Hampshire. Comments must be submitted by Dec. 3, 2015 or at the hearing at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. Rules notice with appendices.

Do you appreciate NH Bar Association publications? Would you like to be involved in the evolution of the association's print and online communication strategies and policies?

The NHBA communications department is working to establish a new Communications Advisory Council, which will meet regularly at the Bar Center (though some members may participate remotely). Attorneys from all practice settings are invited to submit a brief letter of interest by Nov. 6 to be considered for membership or temporary advisory roles on the council. The letter of interest should be sent to news@nhbar.org. Questions? Please email Bar News Editor Kristen Senz.

The Anonymous People is a feature documentary film about the over 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. It will be screened Thursday, Oct. 29, 6-8 pm, at Concord High School Auditorium. Panel discussion to follow.

The bar, bench, legislature, executive branch and public are invited to submit comment on the proposed new unified rules of criminal procedure. In a memo preceding the order, the NH Supreme Court stated that the proposed rules were approved by the court in 2010, but adoption was deferred due to ongoing projects.

An ad hoc committee earlier this year revised the proposed rules, which codify existing practices and "are not intended to change any existing rule or add any rules."

Comments should be submitted by Nov. 12 to rulescomment@courts.state.nh.us.

Help End the Wait: Take a Pro Bono Case This week is National Pro Bono Week, and October is Pro Bono Month in New Hampshire. NHBA Pro Bono staff are busy coordinating events to celebrate and promote the great work of attorney volunteers. Instead of listing cases in need of placement this week, the staff would like to thank all the attorneys who have responded to the weekly appeals to take cases. Your generosity is much appreciated! The Pro Bono cases of the week will return in November.
