The NH Women's Bar Association invites NH bar members to attend the Annual Post-Holiday Party at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, at UnWine'd, 865 Second St., Manchester. Appetizers will be provided. The full menu and cash bar will also be available.

This year, there will be a gift swap at the party. Participation is strictly voluntary, but if you would like to join the fun, please bring a small wrapped gift ($10 limit) to swap.

The Campaign for Legal Services in collaboration with the Warren B. Rudman Center for Justice, Leadership & Public Policy is pleased to welcome Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative and the author of Just Mercy.

Bryan Stevenson is a Harvard Law School grad who has devoted many years to death sentence cases in the South. His book is powerful and disturbing.

The NH Bar Association is seeking nominations for positions on the NHBA Board of Governors for the membership year starting in June 2015. The petition is available on the Bar's website.

The membership will elect four at-large governors, including one from the public/public interest sector, and one representing out-of-state members. These board seats carry three-year terms.

Nominations for Vice President (one-year term), Secretary, and Treasurer (three-year terms) will also be made by petition.

Members in Cheshire, Coos, Grafton, Merrimack and Rockingham counties must nominate county governors, each for a two-year term. County Governor nominations require 10 signatures from voting members in the particular county; officer and at-large petitions require 25 signatures.

Petitions are due March 1, 2015; election to be through online ballots sent to eligible members starting April 1. For information about serving on the Board, contact NHBA Executive Director Jeannine McCoy.



The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit has an opening for a full-time Circuit CJA Case Budgeting Attorney based at the federal court in Concord and/or the Circuit Executive's Office at the federal court in Boston, Mass. Preference will be given to applicants who apply by Jan. 30.




Special pricing for a full-day of CLEs plus the Honors & Awards luncheon at the Midyear Meeting is effective until Jan. 27.

Our Professionalism Day CLEs will look at mastery of communication skills with clients and decision-makers in the morning; the afternoon program combines entertainment with ethics, touching on conflict of interest issues and the lure and perils of social media.

A free symposium at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Anselm College will address federal campaign finance reform and some of the implications for the political system and health of our democracy.

Money, Democracy, and the Constitution II: Campaign Finance and Election Law is sponsored by Constitutionally Speaking, a collaboration of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society, the Warren B. Rudman Center for Justice, Leadership and Public Policy at UNH Law School, the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and Social Sciences at Dartmouth, and the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.
