WHAT: Signed into law Dec. 19, 2014, the federal ABLE Act provides a new opportunity for qualified individuals with disabilities to have tax-free savings accounts that will support their health and independence while preserving means-tested government benefits.

WHO: New Hampshire attorney John Kitchen participated in the drafting of the ABLE Act. Recognized as an expert in New Hampshire and nationally on disabilities law, Kitchen will speak about the law and its implications for individuals with disabilities.

Fall 2014 NH Bar Journal Check out the "Arts & the Law" issue of the Bar Journal, now available online in PDF or for purchase as a printed copy.

The American Mock Trial Regional Tournament hosted by Saint Anselm College in Manchester is looking for attorneys and sitting or retired judges to act as judges in the tournament, Jan. 30-Feb. 1. Also acceptable as judges are law students with mock trial experience, paralegals and court clerks.

Judges are still needed for the following time slots:
  • Round 1 at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 = 9 more needed
  • Round 2 at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 = 1 more needed
  • Round 3 at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 = 5 more needed
  • Round 4 at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 = 16 more needed
Sandwich/sub dinner will be provided Friday evening. Continental breakfasts both Saturday and Sunday mornings, lunch on Saturday. All volunteers are invited to the banquet brunch/lunch on Sunday. This is not a NH Bar-sponsored program.

The Rudman Center at UNH Law hosts "Political Reform," an evening with former Senator Olympia Snowe and former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman. Snowe recently wrote Fighting for Common Ground: How We Can Fix the Stalemate in Congress.

Snowe will engage in discussion with Glickman, who is currently a Bipartisan Policy Center senior fellow and co-chairs its Commission on Political Reform. This event is free and open to the public.
