October is Pro Bono Month in New Hampshire. The NH Bar Association's focus on access to justice this month includes training seminars, referral marathons, and an award ceremony honoring Plymouth attorney Quentin Blaine, a UNH Law graduate who has demonstrated dedication to pro bono service. The Bruce Friedman Award Pro Bono Award presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the IP Center Atrium at UNH School of Law. All are welcome.



The DRC is hosting an open house in its new offices at 64 North Main St., Suite 2, 3rd floor, in Concord. The event will be held from 3:30-6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23. Remarks will begin at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to bethk@drcnh.org by Oct. 16.



Add a description The NH Bar Association is seeking nominations for the 2015 annual Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service, the Distinguished Service to the Public Award and the Outstanding Service in the Public Sector/Public Interest Law Award.

Visit the bar's website for more information about the awards, eligibility requirements and the nomination form for the public sector award.

Nominations must be in the form of a written narrative describing why the nominee is deserving of the award and how the nominee meets the award criteria. Previous nomination submissions may be considered upon written request, with the submission of updating information only.

Save the Date: These awards will be presented at the Midyear Meeting on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015.



There are still some spaces open for Pro Bono's 2014 Divorce Camp, which features popular returning faculty. The program will be held on three consecutive Monday afternoons, starting Oct. 20, at the NH Bar Center. Attendees will receive a Pro Bono case and a mentor to help hone their skills.

null The Circuit Court in Concord will be hosting a brown bag lunch meeting for marital law practitioners on Monday, Oct. 27. Judge Leonard and Master Geiger will be in attendance.

A brown bag lunch meeting on juvenile justice matters is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14, with Judges Boyle and Spath.

The meetings will be held at noon in the courthouse library.



The Manchester Bar Association will hold its October meeting at the Derryfield Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Come for cocktails at 5:30 p.m., stay for dinner and discussions by members of the judiciary about the state's drug court and mental health court programs starting at 6:15 p.m.

Judges Kenneth Brown, John Emery and Gregory Michael will be the speakers and special guests.

The NHBA Solo/Small Firm Discussion Group is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Bar Center. Janet DeVito and Craig Calaman from the NH Attorney Discipline Office will speak to the group on the NH Supreme Court amended rules governing IOLTA and firm recordkeeping.

The Solo/Small Firm Discussion Group offers a venue for solo and small-firm practitioners to assist each other by sharing knowledge and information around issues unique to the solo and small firm practice setting. For more information, please contact Rosemarie Atwood.
