Zaitlin explore the requirements of so-called "administrative simplification" provisions in the HIPAA act that apply stringent rules to prevent the disclosure of protected health information or PHI. These rules apply to "covered entities" that may do business with law firms, that should be aware of their need to safeguard PHI. Read the article.



A "culture of silence" among health care workers sabotages policies that seek to prevent drug diversion by addicted employees at health care facilities. This article by attorneys Mark A. Abramson, Jared R. Green and Lindsey Gray looks at the policy considerations of requiring random drug-testing for such workers, given that addiction rates for health care personnel are higher than the general population, and the risk of harm is great. After five years at the helm, attorney David Ruoff signs off with his last review of noteworthy NH Supreme Court cases. Ruoff recently was elected vice president of the New Hampshire Bar Association.
