On August 15, 2014, the Judicial Conference Advisory Committees on Appellate, Bankruptcy, Civil, and Criminal Rules published proposed amendments to their respective rules and forms, and requested that the proposals be circulated to the bench, bar, and public for comment. The proposed amendments, Rules Committee reports explaining the proposed changes, and instructions on how to submit comments are posted on the federal Judiciary's website. The public comment period ends February 17, 2015.



The Foreclosure Rescue Project Brown Bag Lunch program originally scheduled for tomorrow (Sept. 11) is being rescheduled for noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Bar Association.

This is to allow those interested to attend a meeting of the NH Foreclosure Commission, which is meeting at 12:30, Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Legislative Office Building, room 302. The Commission is studying whether any changes are needed to state laws governing the foreclosure process. Read SB306, the enabling legislation.

The NH Women's Bar Association holds its 17th Annual Fall Reception at The Concord Country Club from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, which includes the presentation of the 2014 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award to Carol L. Hess, attorney and mediator with Hess Gehris Solutions.

RSVPs are appreciated by e-mailing NHWBA Executive Director Gretchen Pyles. The event includes presentation of the Winnie McLaughlin Scholarship to Allison M. Fusco, a second-year law student at UNH School of Law. A 50/50 raffle to benefit the Winnie McLaughlin Scholarship Fund will also be held.



In accordance with Supreme Court Rule 56 and RSA 490:32, the NH Circuit Court Administrative judge routinely conducts judicial evaluations and invites you to participate in this process. The following judges/masters are presently being evaluated:

Edward Gordon, Justice6th Circuit Courts
Timothy McKenna, Justice1st, 2nd and 6th Circuit Courts
Kristin Spath, Justice6th, 9th, and 10th Circuit Courts

The surveys are available online at courts.state.nh.us. Responses will be shared with the judges/marital masters being evaluated but are treated as confidential, and the identity of the respondent will remain anonymous.

To receive a hard copy of the survey, please email [email protected] or call 271-6418. Please include the name(s) of the judge/master you would like to evaluate as well as your name and address. All evaluations must be completed online or be returned no later than Friday, Oct. 10.

The US District Court for the District of New Hampshire is hosting a swearing-in ceremony for Andrea Johnstone as United States Magistrate Judge to be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Warren B. Rudman United States Courthouse, 55 Pleasant St., Concord.
