The NH Bar International Law Section seeks nominations for the 2014 Daniel Webster International Lawyer of the Year Award. This award honors a NH Bar member "whose contribution to international law demonstrates the spirit of Daniel Webster and whose good works help elevate the standing of the legal profession and serve as an inspiration to others." Nominations may be made by any member of the NH Bar, with or without notice to the nominee. Submissions should include a description of the contributions made by the nominee and be sent by June 30 to Phillip J. Walker.

The NH Bar Journal Editorial Advisory Board invites contributions for the fall issue of the NH Bar Journal with the theme: Arts & the Law. We are seeking article proposals and also will feature profiles of "lawyers in the arts" including examples of their creations. The deadline for articles is Sept. 15.  The NH Bar Association is now accepting online payment of annual membership dues and court fees! Have your invoices handy and visit our membership renewal page, which can also be accessed from the NHBA website home page. Add section memberships online and pay all at once. Members should have received invoices from the court and the association earlier this month. Visit this page for more information about paying online and submitting your annual Trust Account Compliance/IOLTA form, which must be returned by US Mail. If you do not wish to pay online, please remember to total the amounts on your invoices and write one check payable to NH Bar Association.

 Web-based training sessions on the state's new e-filing system - scheduled to launch with small claims cases in Concord and Plymouth on July 30 - are scheduled for 2 p.m. every Thursday, starting in mid-July through August. (Sessions will be cancelled if they are fewer than five sign-ups in advance per session.) These sessions walk attorneys and their staff members through the process of registering a firm as an e-filer and the interface that will be used for filing all types of state court cases and documents within the next few years. Do you know a smart young attorney who has demonstrated civility, professionalism and a good sense of humor? The Robert E. Kirby Award is given each year by the NH Bar Foundation to an attorney age 35 or younger who embodies these qualities. Video produced last year recalls the award's namesake, the late Bob Kirby and the impact of the award on past recipients. Nominate someone for this award by July 1. The Frank Rowe Kenison Award is presented annually to an individual (or individuals) who makes substantial contributions to the betterment of New Hampshire citizens through the administration of justice, the legal profession, or the advancement of legal thought. The NHBA Paralegal Professionalism Award is presented annually to the nominee who best exhibits a high degree of professionalism. Attributes of award-recipients include: possessing an outstanding level of knowledge about the job; having motivation that exceeds expectations; being considered a role model for other paralegals; and promoting paralegal work as a profession. Nominations should be in the form of a one-page narrative and should be submitted by Friday, July 18, to NHBA Paralegal Award, 2 Pillsbury St., Suite 300, Concord, NH 03301-3502. The Paralegal Award will be presented during the luncheon at the Paralegal Association's Annual Meeting in September 2014.
