null A Brown Bag lunch discussion about the Initial Appearance Pilot Project for felony cases in Cheshire County is scheduled for noon on Friday, May 30, at the superior court in Keene.

As part of the NH Superior Court's Felony Case Flow initiative, the superior courts in Cheshire and Strafford counties have been designated as pilot courts for the project, which will start next Monday, June 2 in Strafford County and July 1 in Cheshire County. The NH Supreme Court has adopted temporary rules for the pilot project, which will bring felony defendants before superior court judges prior to grand jury indictment.

Superior Court Chief Justice Tina Nadeau plans to attend the Brown Bag meeting with the county judge and clerk. All criminal practitioners in Cheshire County are invited to attend.



The NH Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules has scheduled a public hearing at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, for review of a set of proposed rules, including a trust accounting notification requirement and revisions to rules that govern the Attorney Discipline System.

Comments on the proposed rules may be submitted to the secretary of the committee on or before June 6 by email to rulescomment@courts.state.nh.us. Comments may also be mailed or delivered to: NH Supreme Court, Advisory Committee on Rules, 1 Charles Doe Drive, Concord, NH 03301.

The NH Bar Foundation Annual Event will take place Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Radisson-Center of NH in Manchester.

Nominations are sought for these two awards to be presented on that date:

The Robert E. Kirby Award - given annually to a practitioner 35 years old or younger who demonstrates excellent advocacy and civility. Frank Rowe Kenison Award - honors a person or group making a substantial contribution to the betterment of New Hampshire citizens through the administration of justice, the legal profession or the advancement of legal thought. The deadline for award nominations is Tuesday, July 1.



The ADO is looking to hire a full-time, licensed New Hampshire attorney with at least 10 years of active law practice, including litigation and office administration. Responsibilities include investigating and assessing complaints, writing reports, some participation in hearings and oral arguments, interacting with the public, presenting at CLEs, and office administration.

Pro Bono Golf - Old Man on the Mountain The 2014 Quid Pro Bono Golf Tournament, the major annual fundraiser for the NHBA Pro Bono Referral Program, is now accepting player registrations online and by mail. null The 10th Circuit Court in Brentwood will host a Brown Bag lunch discussion for juvenile justice stakeholders from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10. The meeting will be held in Courtroom 4 on the second floor of the courthouse.

Bring your lunch and join Judge Mark Weaver, Clerk Cheryll Andrews, Deputy Clerk Debbie Turgeon, and the juvenile clerk for discussion, as well as a period for questions and answers.

All juvenile law practitioners, as well as police, JPPOs, DCYF staff, CASA volunteers, foster parents and school administrative staff members, are invited to attend.


The NH Women's Bar Association is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award. Named for the first woman to apply for admission to the NH bar, the Ricker Award honors outstanding women lawyers in New Hampshire who have achieved professional excellence, paved the way to success for other women lawyers, advanced opportunities for women in the profession and/or performed exemplary public service on behalf of women.
