The Low-Income Taxpayer Project (LITP) of the Pro Bono Referral Program is a legal aid clinic for low- and moderate-income clients facing controversies with the IRS. The LITP handles some cases in-house; others, it refers to volunteer attorneys, CPAs, and enrolled agents. Typical cases involve collection issues, as well as audits, worker misclassification, innocent and injured spouse relief, and appeals from denial of the earned income tax credit.

If you're interested in joining LITP's panel of volunteers, please contact Coordinator Barbara Heggie, (603) 715-3215. If you accept an LITP case, the clinic will provide you with CLE materials, ongoing case support, and malpractice insurance coverage, if desired.
